Mothers as Role Models
* * *
In today’s world, our daughter’s look for role models, people that they can emulate, fan at Facebook and groups, and those they can fashion their lifestyle after. As Christian women, our mother is our role model. She is first and preeminent to bring us up in the “nurture and admonition” of the Lord, to teach us the way we should walk, talk, think and how we are to behave. She is our guide, our example, our leader and molds and shapes our personality and outlook on all things spiritual and secular. This is the responsibility that God has given to mothers. We are blessed women indeed to have Christian mothers who for love of us, their calling and blessing of the gift of children, lead us to Christ and make a lifetime impact on our lives.
As a daughter of a lovely Christian mother, one who loved God’s Word and memorized the books of the Bible, read and taught it to her children, her example created a love of Christ and His Word in the life of her children and why I am the “TheologyGirl-ReformedWomen” today.
My mother was an example of a Godly mother and although she has returned to her first love, the Lord Jesus, in Heaven, her impact on my life is a daily reminder of her perseverance in God’s Word in training and teaching us. Each time I read God’s Word, memorize it or write, blog or speak of it, I am reminded of her and her faithfulness to it. God uses our mothers to mold and shape us and Mom’s love of Scripture has created a love of it for me and why I love to share it and teach it to other women of faith. Her memorization of the Psalms and their recitation each night before bedtime caused us as children to likewise memorize them. She was, is and will always be a role model. Because today is Mother’s Day, I share one of her favorites which is so apropos for today and every day:
My Help Comes from the LORD
A Song of Ascents.
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is your keeper;
the LORD is your shade on your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
The LORD will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.

Thank you Lord for giving me a mother of faith and commitment as a role model. All of our gifts are from Your love and appointment and we are blessed to have mothers of faith to nurture us in Your Word for Your glory and our good. May Your Word be forever in our hearts and minds and applied in our lives.
Because of Christ, I am Coram Deo. __TheologyGirl-ReformedWomen
