“Love is Everlasting”
February, 2016

February is “Love” month.  If you are a happy romantic like me, you love February.  February naturally makes me think “love” thoughts of my husband, my favorite color: red, chocolates in pretty boxes, cappuccino with whipped cream and a more recent love, sparkling diamonds.  They are a given for me and probably for most women. But the most important thing that February reminds me of is true love and especially the love that we have in Christ, His love for us that is everlasting and our love for Him for eternity.  February focuses us on “love” and the true meaning of love from God’s Word and how that love is to be expressed to God and to one another.

What is “love is everlasting”?

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” John 3:16-17

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second is like this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these. And to love Him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love the neighbor as himself, is more than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.” Mark 12:31-33

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” John 14:15 & “Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” 1John 4:11
