“Devotions From the Heart”
Our True Treasure
Whom have I in heaven but you?
And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
This is incomprehensible to the biblically unlearned man or woman. The world and all of its eye-catching beauty and enticements challenges us to seek those worldly treasures rather than the greatest treasure of all, the beautiful and lasting treasure of Christ as our God, Savior, Deliverer and King. He is the love portion that gives life meaning and beauty. He is the treasure that is everlasting and blessed. He is the forever portion of His children, the joint heirs of Christ. How lovely is this life that is ours as His bride and children? It is more than one can ever imagine, describe, create or design. It is the life lived as a joint heir with Christ. It is called the true treasure, the blessed life. _TG-RW
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21
“It is the spirit of a godly man [woman] to prefer God to any earthly enjoyments of which he can conceive. He not only prefers Him to anything which he now possesses, but he sees nothing possessed by any of his fellow creatures as so estimable. Could he have as much worldly prosperity as he would, could he have earthly things just to his mind, and agreeable to his inclination, he values the portion which he has in God incomparably more. He prefers Christ to earthly kingdoms.”_Jonathan Edwards

The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. Romans 8:16-17
