The Heavens Declaration

“Devotions From the Heart”
January 2015 – The Heavens Declaration

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat.” Psalm 19:1-6

How magnificent is the beauty of God’s creation. Our meager human words struggle to describe the incredible greatness of it in all of its splendor in magnificence, art and form. The eyes must see it, the hands must touch it, the senses feel it and the heart believe it for just a morsel of what God has done for His own glory in creating the heavens and earth. How blessed are we to partake in it in all of its beauty and wonder. We must, as the poet speaks in God’s Word, cry out “God is My Maker”! HE is and for what He has done is marvelous in our eyes. _TG-RW*

“The lessons of the firmament are universal. Wherever man breathes, in torrid or in frigid zones, the canopy of day and night speaks the same voice. Throughout earth’s length and breadth, the heavens teach plainly the invisible things of God, even His eternal power and Godhead. Let the sun’s voice especially be heard. The heavens are his splendid tent. In the dawn he breaks forth arrayed in gladness, as a joyous bridegroom. He strides along stately in giant-strength. He girds all heaven in his path and with his all-penetrating rays searches earth in all its parts. In all his course, in all his might, one is his witness. God is my Maker. Worship him. So then they are without excuse who read not God in creation’s volume. The Spirit by the mouth of Paul declares their guilt, and passes just sentence, and seals their reprobation. The Spirit, too, adopts these terms to show the Gospel’s progress through all lands. Let this inspirit missionary zeal!”
