Iraq Elections and Answer to Prayer

Praise God for His mercy and grace to the Iraqi people in their desire to vote regardless of threats of death and to be “free” and democratic. The desire of all men is to be free, as our President has rightly said, the Bible supports it and God affirms that man’s freedom comes from Him and the desire of freedom in the heart and actions in secular life is a vivid picture of the freedom that God has called men to in their spiritual life. Christ has said,

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” John 8:36; “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32.

Men and women desire to be free…it is God’s desire to set men and women free in salvation, and from tyranny and oppressive governments so that they can serve God acceptably. It is God’s desire that all men “come to the knowledge of truth” and that truth comes by His Spirit and His men and women sharing the good news of Christ. God opens this door through many ways and especially through the use of His “free” people. We as “free” people need to lead them to the true freedom which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Praise God for His gift of freedom to us so that we, as His children, can take the gift of freedom and democracy to other nations and so that we can lead others to the true “freedom” in Christ. Be thankful to God this Lord’s Day for His blessings to these peoples and pray that God will continue to bless the oppressed peoples of the world and that many, by God’s grace and providence, will be set free.

Remember our troops and those of the coalition in their ministry of protection and service on behalf of these peoples and us. Remember those families that have lost loved ones even this day and for God’s grace and peace to be with them. Thank God for your own family, nation and for God’s mercy on its leaders and ministers. Praise God for our President, George W. Bush and his resoluteness and faithfulness to do the work that God’s has set him apart for in leading our nation and for godly decisions that face us and our future.

May God continually bless us and our nation. To God be the glory.

I will be posting an article to the HeavenlyNotes database at JoyPals.com for February based on this blessing of freedom. Stop by for a read. For good secular articles related to the events of the election in Iraq, visit http://www.powerlineblog.com and http://www.instapundit.com

Ladies,
Here is a link that shows a lot of the damage done by the tsunami. There are 20 sets of pictures. The first few are high altitude and do not show nearly as much as the low altitude pics. Be sure to click on the before and after button to compare the difference. On some you can see the size of the waves. This can serve as a reminder of God’s power and a reminder to pray for so many of these people.

Our family, and church, know a man born in Sri Lanka, that now is a pastor in New Zealand. He has a large ministry in Sri Lanka and in parts of India. Since he speaks the language and knows the culture he has advantages that others may not. He also speaks the Tamil language, the language spoken in Tamilnadu - the hardest hit provence in India. He is currently over in SL and India. Please pray for him and his work. His name is Pastor Bala.
